By using Bonaventure Memorials' ash scattering services, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure a respectful and organized process.
1. SERVICE AGREEMENT
Decision Maker: I confirm that I am the final decision maker regarding this service and have consulted with other family members, if applicable.
Unaccompanied Scattering: Please note that no individuals may attend the scattering ceremony. This service is conducted without attendees, and it is carried out with the utmost care and respect for your loved one.
Release of Ashes: Upon confirmation of your order, you agree to release the ashes to Bonaventure Memorials for the purpose of scattering them as specified in your service request. You understand that once the ashes are scattered, they cannot be retrieved.
2. PAYMENT TERMS
Payment Due: Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your service date and location.

All permits and regulatory compliance fees
Professional scattering by experienced National Park professionals
GPS coordinates of exact scattering location
Beautiful photographic documentation
Formal certificate of scattering
Planting of 10 trees in honor of your loved one
Payment Methods: We accept all major credit cards and electronic payments through our secure Squarespace checkout.
3. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping Ashes: You are responsible for shipping cremated remains to us using a USPS-approved cremains shipping kit (available free at USPS.com). We will provide detailed shipping instructions upon booking.
Providing Information: You must provide accurate information including:
Full legal name of deceased
Preferred scattering location
Any specific timing requests
Contact information for service updates
Compliance: You agree to ensure that the cremated remains are properly prepared and legally authorized for scattering.
4. TIMING CONSIDERATIONS FOR ASH SCATTERING
Important Notice: The timing of your ash scattering is highly seasonal, and we work diligently to ensure that each scattering is conducted in a manner that maximizes beauty and serenity. Our goal is to honor your loved one in a setting that reflects the natural beauty of the environment.
Please be aware that the exact date of the scattering may vary based on several factors, including:
Seasonal Events: From the breathtaking migration of monarch butterflies to the blooming wildflowers on Mt. Rainier, we consider the natural events that enhance the scattering experience.
Weather Conditions: We take into account the prevailing weather conditions to ensure a peaceful and respectful ceremony.
Location-Specific Timing: Different locations have optimal times for scattering based on their unique seasonal characteristics. We strive to choose a time that aligns with the most picturesque conditions.
Typical Timeline: Most scatterings are completed within 4-12 weeks of booking, depending on location and season. We will provide you with an estimated timeframe when you book and keep you updated throughout the process.
5. ENVIRONMENTAL AND SITE CONSIDERATIONS
You agree to abide by any local laws, environmental guidelines, and site-specific regulations concerning the scattering of ashes.
Compliance for Aerial Scattering: For ashes to be scattered aerially (hot air balloon spreading), they must be properly pulverized. Ensuring compliance with this requirement is essential for a safe and legal scattering.
Respect for the Environment: We are committed to honoring your loved one while respecting the natural beauty of the chosen scattering location. We therefore cannot include any tokens, items, or memorials at the site of the scattering. Your cooperation in adhering to environmental guidelines is greatly appreciated.
No Return of Unused Urns or Mementoes: Please be aware that any unused urns or containers cannot be returned following the scattering. Please do not send the cremains in an urn that represents sentimental attachment or include any mementoes that you would like returned.
6. SPECIAL REQUESTS
We are limited at this time to the geographical locations and seasonality constraints inherent in a respectful scattering. We regret we can only perform scatterings at listed locations, timed to maximize the dignity, serenity, and beauty of the event.

7. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
While we strive to provide a meaningful experience, Bonaventure Memorials cannot be held liable for:
Emotional distress or other psychological consequences related to the scattering process
Delays caused by weather, permit processing, or other factors beyond our control
Minor variations in timing or exact location due to environmental conditions
Force Majeure: In the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, extreme weather, government restrictions, permanent park closures, or other acts of God, Bonaventure Memorials shall not be held liable for any delays or inability to fulfill the scattering service as planned.
In such cases, we will work with you to:
Reschedule the service when possible
Select an alternative location if the original is unavailable
Provide regular communication about the situation
8. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Communication First: If you have any concerns or disputes regarding our service, please contact us first at contact@destinationspreading.com or (515) 206-4845. We are committed to resolving any issues promptly and fairly.
Mediation: Any disputes that cannot be resolved through direct communication will be resolved through mediation in Iowa before pursuing legal action.
Jurisdiction: These terms are governed by Iowa law. Any legal proceedings must be conducted in Iowa courts.
9. MODIFICATIONS TO TERMS
Bonaventure Memorials reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
